Candidate for DeKalb County CEO Larry Johnson spoke about his priorities for Dekalb if elected. He told a little about his background and was very brief, but he said he wanted to work together and stay connected. Improve traffic, improve streets by filling potholes. He wants to improve parks. He said he wants a cultural exchange with Japan. He reminded us that early voting begins in July!

There have three bands booked DHS and Atlanta Spirit. David Abes the founder of Dash Hospitality will be the Grand Marshall. Fan favorite the Lawn Chair Drill Team. Also, many Neighborhoods are participating this year too.

Robert Patrick stepped up to talk about water activity. A main broke on Buford Hwy. South of the area there was no water. He handed the detailed presentation to Dekalb county COO and Maria House to explain the big problem with Dekalb County’s water sewer system problem and what they will need to do to update it. They had a handout that detailed the history and the WTR SWR system and explained the growth of DeKalb county means this 100 year old system will need major upgrades or we will have more failure like what happened on Buford hwy. Bottom line is they need to raise money and water bills will increase for the upgrades.

A upcoming planning commission meeting will be discussing N. Peachtree Rehab center, if they pass the Minimum required distance from a park the facility would not be a rehab center.
